Hi all!

This is long, but it’s cool, so please read it and participate!

LCV is working with a broad coalition of partners to organize a joint action to drive messages into Congress to permanently authorize and fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, America’s best and most accessible parks program. We hope that you will consider participating in this action to make our outdoor spaces more accessible for all. See below for more details, but note that each participating organization will get a number of new names equal to the number of signers they drove to the page.

This action is open to local, state, and national organizations, provided that they are able to promote this action to their email list at least one time. Please sign on by August 7. The action will launch on August 9 and remain open through September 30 – the date when LWCF’s authorization expires - which should allow ample time to send to your list.

Once we finalize the list of partners, LCV will also circulate a robust content package with templates for email, social, and graphic materials. Please respond directly to this email, and cc Brooke Still and Liz Jacob, to confirm that your organization will be participating in this joint action. They will follow up with further information and an MOU.

Joint Action Procedure

Our vendor Trilogy is hosting the action microsite on behalf of the LCV and maintaining control over all data. There is no cost for partners to participate.
Before launch, every organization participating in the action will receive an organization-specific URL to send their supporters to. This ensures that we are able to track how many names each organization contributes.
Participating organizations can send as many of their supporters to the petition page, using whatever message they like, whenever they like, as long as the petition is open.
A few days before action has been completed, every organization will be asked to upload an encrypted “hashfile” of their entire email list. This will allow us to sort the names once the action is closed.
Once the action closes, each organization will be able to download a file with new names for their email list -- the hash file ensures that every organization will receive names that aren’t already on their email list.
Each organization will get a number of new names equal to the number of signers they drove to the page through their unique URL. In the event that there are not enough names in the pot to provide each organization with a number of new names equal to their number of signers, we will limit the number of signers each organization puts into the pot to ensure an equal 1:1 for all partners, regardless of organization size.
Each partner organization is entitled to state-based geographic preference in the new name distribution (ie. if an organization requests new names in California, that organization will be given all the California names that are available before being given national names). Each organization must indicate their state-level geographic preference before the action closes for this preference to be included.
Care will be taken to add petition signers to as few lists as possible.

From campgrounds to National Parks to local ball fields, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has protected important land, water, and recreation areas in every state and every part of the country.

LWCF expires this year, so we need to push Congress to make sure they reauthorize and fully fund this important program. Add your name today!

The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is a bipartisan commitment to protect our land, water, and cultural heritage in every part of the country. From the Grand Canyon to local ball fields, LWCF has been there to protect incredible places and provide recreational opportunities for all. We must invest in our future by investing in LWCF.
