Hi all,
Please see the toolkit for the #LessonFromAliso Twitter storm below - this is taking place tomorrow, Tues 23 October, at 1pmET/10amPT.

To mark the third anniversary of the Aliso Canyon gas leak, groups working to raise awareness about the health, safety and climate risks of gas will come together to highlight the #LessonsFromAliso - what we learned about gas and methane leaks, their health and climate impacts and how we can protect ourselves via electric appliances and cleaner energy choices.

Our goal is to get as many groups and individuals as possible tweeting this series and the hashtag #LessonsFromAliso between 10am-11amPT on October 23. Feel free to loop in and share with any others you think may be interested in participating.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hashtag:

  • #LessonsFromAliso

Roll-out: TUESDAY - OCTOBER 23RD 10amPT - 11amPT

TWEETS:

TWEET 1:
On Oct. 23, 2015, a gas leak was detected at #AlisoCanyon. For 112 days, #methane & other chemicals poured into the air. 8,000 families were forced to evacuate. A state of emergency was declared. Here’s some #LessonsFromAliso we learned.

TWEET 2:

#LessonsFromAliso: Gas leaks are bad for your health. Residents, firefighters & #AlisoCanyon first responders suffered headaches, nausea, rashes, nosebleeds & now some are fighting cancer.

2 (2).png

TWEET 3:

#LessonsFromAliso: Gas is a disaster for #climatechange. #NatGas operations produce #methane - a #ghg 80x more potent than CO2. #AlisoCanyon leaked 100k tons of #methane - the single largest leak in US history.

TWEET 4:

#LessonsFromAliso: #AlisoCanyon was just the tip of the iceberg. #NatGas operations in #CA release more #methane than the Aliso Canyon disaster every year. The US oil & gas industry releases the same amount of methane as Aliso Canyon every 3 days.

TWEET 5:
#LessonsFromAliso: There’s no safe way to live with #NatGas. 17.6 million Americans live near an oil or gas well. Leaks happen at every well, every storage facility, every pipeline & with every appliance - wreaking havoc on the climate & public health.

TWEET 6:

#LessonsFromAliso: We have safer, cleaner #energy choices. Expanding our options from #natgas to electric appliances like heatpumps & induction stoves powered by #cleanenergy will protect us from the next #AlisoCanyon.

TWEET 7:

#AlisoCanyon revealed serious dangers of #natgas. What #LessonsFromAliso did you learn?

112 days. 100k+ tons of #methane. 8,000 families evacuated. Mysterious health symptoms. #LessonsFromAliso: We need safer #energy choices.
