All,
Your CEO is invited to join NRDC President Rhea Suh and TWS President Jamie Williams in sending the attached letter to Senator Wyden, thanking him for his extraordinary leadership in the fight against the confirmation of David Bernhardt to be DOI Secretary.* In large part thanks to Wyden's efforts, Mr. Bernhardt begins his tenure as Secretary not only under intense scrutiny, but under formal investigation.
As we move to the next stage in this fight, we must recognize the Senator for his leadership throughout the confirmation process, and encourage his continued engagement in holding Bernhardt accountable as Secretary.
Please use this form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEW5dfwml71rHOm6wlXkdS5M8BY1u7r7xzeKiAfF8jVZB89A/viewform?usp=sf_link> to sign on by COB Friday, April 26th.
Thank you,
Nora

*Further examples of Wyden's leadership in the Bernhardt fight:
* His pointed questions during Bernhardt's hearing in Senate ENR (including the now-famous line<https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/28/climate/david-bernhardt-interior-secretary-senate.html>, Why would you come to my office and lie to me about your ethics?) were critical to elevating the sham process and painting Bernhardt as conflicted.
* Upon our coalition's urging, Wyden used the SENR confirmation hearing to call out new reporting that Bernhardt intervened to block a FWS study showing the devasting impacts of chlorpyrifos and other pesticides on 1,300 endangered species.
* Following the hearing, Wyden requested DOJ to initiate a formal investigation into Bernhardt's alleged violations of lobbying disclosure laws.
* Ahead of the Senate floor vote on Bernhardt's confirmation, Wyden spoke for nearly an hour on the floor, and he and his staff worked with us to rally other Democrats to join him.
* In large part thanks to Wyden's efforts, Mr. Bernhardt begins his tenure as Secretary not only under intense scrutiny, but under formal investigation.
