All,

Attached for group sign-on is a letter<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0QyXhkrnsDDDxsvsOWh38xzhfXhm8i-uFyPNLCb7b_d4b0Q/viewform?usp=sf_link> expressing support for the Pebble Mine funding limitation provision in the House Energy and Water appropriations bill (Section 511 of H.R. 2740).

This important provision would prohibit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from finalizing its reckless and fatally flawed draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the Pebble Mine- a proposed gold and copper mine in Bristol Bay, Alaska, which would have disastrous social, environmental, and economic impacts. (Amendment language and support letter are attached for reference).

The Senate Interior approps bill also included report language from Senator Murkowski that calls for the Army Corps to address gaps and deficiencies in the Pebble Mine DEIS and encourages other federal agencies to exercise their "discretionary authorities" if they aren't satisfied with the Army Corps' assessment. While we were pleased to see the Senate recognize the deficiencies of the DEIS, this language does not adequately address the threat posed by the flawed review process for the proposed mine. We are therefore encouraging the inclusion of the House language (Section 511) in any final package.

Please use this form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0QyXhkrnsDDDxsvsOWh38xzhfXhm8i-uFyPNLCb7b_d4b0Q/viewform?usp=sf_link> to sign on by 2:00 pm ET on Thursday (12/5).

Thanks in advance!
